Privacy & Safety
Privacy settings
Privacy settings
Privacy is a default in Orbit, not an option you have to turn on. Here's what's controlled by default and what you can adjust.
What's private by default
- All posts are visible only to members of the group they're posted to
- Your profile is not searchable by the public
- Your phone number is never shown to other users
- There are no public profiles, public groups, or public feeds
Discoverability
By default, people in your contacts who have Orbit can see your name and avatar when they go to invite someone. You can turn this off under Settings → Privacy → Discoverability.
With discoverability off, people can only find you via a direct invite link you share yourself.
Phone number visibility
Your phone number is used only for verification and account recovery. It is never displayed to other users under any circumstances.
Data and exports
You can request a full export of your data — posts, replies, and account information — under Settings → Privacy → Download your data. Exports are delivered within 48 hours.
Account deletion
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. All your posts, replies, and personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days. Some aggregate anonymized data (e.g., total post count) may be retained for product analytics.
