Creating a post

Posting in Orbit is fast by design. Here's how it works.

Starting a post

Tap the + button in the center of the tab bar from anywhere in the app. This opens the camera directly.

Post types

  • Photo — Take a photo. You can add a short caption.
  • Video — Record up to 60 seconds. Audio is included.
  • Text — Switch to text mode using the T icon at the bottom. Write up to 300 characters.

The in-moment rule

Orbit does not allow uploads from your camera roll or files app. Every photo and video must be captured live, in the app, at the moment you post.

This is the foundation of what makes Orbit different. It means everything you see in your group actually happened — not a curated photo from three weeks ago, not a screenshot of a screenshot. Real life, as it unfolds.

You can choose to share a post later (it won't appear in your group's feed until you tap Share), but the capture itself always happens in real time.

Captions and reactions

After capturing, you can add an optional caption. Once posted, your group members can react with an emoji or reply directly in the thread.

Deleting a post

Open the post, tap , and select Delete. Deleted posts are removed immediately and cannot be recovered.
